I longed for the integrity and pride in BayCurrent employees
Back when I was looking for jobs, I knew I wanted a job where I could work with people that had a lot of varied experience, regardless of age. Luckily, BayCurrent chose me as a candidate. I had always thought that consultants seemed logical, calm, and level-headed at all times, but when I spoke with employees during the screening process, they listened so earnestly—even though I was a college student—and seemed radiant when talking about their own work. Through that screening process, I came to feel strongly that I wanted to join the company and be as proud of my work as they were. So, I decided to join.
Fair recognition for abilities, rather than by age or gender
"Forget your job title for now. No matter what kind of task you're doing, it's important work that can influence the projects and people around you." My supervisor said that to me, and it really left an impression. I truly understood BayCurrent's style through that: not judging my work, putting my everything into every task, and always giving support with the client's point of view in mind. Also, consulting industry does seem very male-dominated, but I had the opportunity to work with a female consultant on my first project, and I loved seeing how she worked. Age and gender are irrelevant to our roles as consultants, and I think that idea pervades at BayCurrent, where we're recognized for our abilities. However, intense workdays do sometimes lead to not being able to demonstrate your own value and feeling down. I think the only reason that I can get through those times and move forward is because my supervisors and seniors take time out of their busy schedules to give me advice on my small problems. BayCurrent employs supervisors and seniors like that: people you can respect as both professionals and people, and people you can look up to. That's a huge plus for the company.
Leverage cross-border experience for values beyond all expectations
I want to take advantage of BayCurrent's great "One Pool" process moving forward to enhance my value—as a consultant and a person—through gaining cross-border support experience across industries and areas, having a positive impact on those around me, and being someone people can trust. Saying I want to gain communication skills makes it sound too easy, but what I'd like to do is gain the skills to glean everything possible from a client's words and gestures without missing anything, especially because this job isn't about selling things. I want to use those skills to become a consultant that can create values beyond all expectations.
